New Canadian study supports full cream milk for toddlers

A new Canadian research study has found evidence that full cream organic milk for toddlers is beneficial for children, especially when it comes to maintaining a healthy weight. The details of the research and its findings have been published in the American Journal of Public Health. The motivation for the study came when researchers at St Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, Canada, noticed that child obesity rates have increased substantially in North America whereas the consumption of full cream milk has reduced to 50 percent or half of what it used to be earlier. The researchers carried out the study, aiming to establish a link between full cream milk for toddlers and reduced child obesity rates.
For the purpose of the research study, around 2700 children in the age group of 2 to 6 years were enrolled for the study. They were divided into 3 groups and put on a specific diet plan. Half of the children were put on a diet of full cream milk, a third were asked to drink 2% milk and the remaining children were to drink 1% milk. After the study was concluded, researchers took various measurements such as Body Mass Index (BMI) and vitamin D levels among children. The data revealed that children who drank whole milk had a 50% reduced risk of being overweight and around 33% reduced risk of being obese, in comparison to children who took 1% milk. Researchers feel that full fat milk provides a sense of satiety to children, which means that they are unlikely to go for additional snacks.
Based on the findings of the study, the researchers came up with the following recommendations:
·         Under 12 months: Full cream milk for babies under 12 months is not recommended because the child's digestive system is not yet fully developed to digest full cream milk.
·         1 - 2 years: At this age, children are growing at a fast pace, they need plenty of dairy products such as tasty dahi, full fat milk, cheese, etc. It will fulfill their increasing need for proteins, fats, vitamins, and minerals.
·         Over 2 years: Full fat dairy products should be preferred, unless there are any specific medical conditions, or any specific guidelines prescribed by a medical practitioner.
·         Being overweight or obese is a big problem in today's world. On the one hand there's societal pressure to stay slim and look good and on the other, there's the risk of various lifestyle diseases associated with weight gain and obesity. Fad diets and weight loss pills have flooded the market, but their effectiveness remains questionable. Also, there's the possibility that these may have side effects and may be detrimental to your health. However, the good news is that researchers have found a new way to promote weight loss in calcium. Moreover, there's no need to rush for calcium supplements since calcium is found in abundance in dairy products such as best full cream milk, organic curd, cow milk products, cheese, etc.
·         A study conducted at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville by Michael Zemel, PhD, has shown the effectiveness of calcium in triggering weight loss. The studies were conducted on both mice and men. In both studies, the results were in favor of calcium, especially calcium derived from dairy products such as best full cream milk, organic curd, cow milk products, etc. In the human study, 32 obese people were divided into 3 groups, and put on different low-calorie diets. Members of the first group were on a diet that was high in dairy products; the second group took little dairy and calcium supplements; and the third group was on a low-calcium and low-dairy diet. The study was conducted over a period of 24 weeks. After the study was concluded and data was analyzed, researchers found that everyone had lost weight. However, the most significant finding of the study was that the first group that was on a diet rich in dairy products had lost 5 pounds more than others. This provides evidence that calcium, especially the type derived from dairy products, works better at reducing weight.
·         According to medical experts, calcium derived from dairy products such as best full cream milk, organic curd, cow milk products, cheese, etc. helps reduce weight by boosting metabolism. Calcium increases thermogenesis, the core temperature of the human body, thereby boosting metabolism. Also, there is evidence that calcium in fat cells plays a key role in how the cells metabolize fat. Experts say that the more the calcium, the more the cells will burn fat. This eventually will result in increased weight loss.

·         If you are looking for a weight loss technique that really works and is 100% natural and safe, you simply need to stat including dairy products in your diet on a regular basis.
